Coach Jeffery said, “Those who truly know how to win should never humiliate those who have lost,” – I quoted to my little boy, explaining to him how to celebrate the victory. I found immense wisdom in his words. The true meaning of winning implies knowing how to recognize the effort made by your opponent, respecting him and recognizing his merit as a competitor.
We have always been told that in order to Win someone has to Lose. But it’s not necessary. Any sporting or competing event offers important lessons for both – those who won and those who lost.
The winners can recognize and build upon the skills and strategies that worked in their favor, and the other team must not only try to improve in areas they lacked but also study the strong points of their opposition to tackle them with more might the next time.
If you look at it this way, the team losing a game has more rewarding experience than the one that wins the game. Everyone’s a winner!
‘Learning from mistakes and turning weaknesses into strengths is what a true winner continually strives for.’
